Srinagar, Dec 13 (NationPress) On Saturday, the J&K Police along with security forces executed a significant operation targeting Over Ground Workers (OGWs) linked to terrorist organizations, resulting in the detention of more than 150 individuals for interrogation.
The authorities reported that over 150 suspects have been apprehended so far in Srinagar, while efforts to dismantle OGWs are ongoing in various regions throughout the Valley.
An official stated that this initiative aims to disrupt the terror network associated with the prohibited group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and other militant factions across the Valley.
“Raids are currently being conducted at multiple locations in several areas of the Kashmir Valley as part of a large-scale offensive against the OGW network,” the official added.
The J&K Police and security forces have been intensively targeting terrorists, their OGWs, and sympathizers as part of a revised strategy aimed at dismantling the entire support system that enables terrorism.
Additionally, individuals involved in drug trafficking, drug dealing, hawala money operations, and other illegal financial activities are also under scrutiny from the security forces.
It is believed that proceeds from drug trafficking and illicit financial operations ultimately fund terrorism in J&K.
The Lieutenant Governor of J&K has been holding regular security review meetings, directing security forces to adopt a comprehensive approach against terrorism. This strategy focuses not only on armed terrorists but also on dismantling the entire support system to achieve lasting peace in J&K.
While the J&K Police and security forces handle anti-terror operations in the interior regions, the Army and Border Security Force (BSF) are stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border to prevent infiltration, exfiltration, drug trafficking, and drone activities from across the border.
