Jammu, Jan 30 (NationPress) In a coordinated effort, security forces initiated a search operation on Thursday in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) after receiving reports of possible terrorist movements in the vicinity.
According to officials, the operation involves both the police and the CRPF, focusing on areas such as Dorthy, Basti, and the surrounding forests in Bhaderwah, Doda district.
“The operation commenced at 8:30 am today. Local residents provided vital information regarding suspicious activities they had observed in the area,” officials stated.
On the previous day, security personnel conducted searches at 25 different sites in Rajouri district, targeting the network of Overground Workers (OGWs) associated with terrorists.
“Rajouri police carried out thorough searches across 25 locations, including Rajouri, Naushera, Thanamandi, Dharhal, Koteranka, Budhal, Manjakot, and Chingus.
“These operations were part of an ongoing investigation linked to a Case FIR No. 447/2024 registered at Rajouri police station.
“The case concerns a terrorist network operating in Rajouri, which, in collaboration with banned organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has been working to mobilize OGWs in Jammu and Kashmir for orchestrating and executing terror-related activities. “Incriminating materials and crucial documents were recovered and confiscated during these searches,” officials reported.
The J&K DGP, Nalin Prabhat, along with senior officials, visited forward operating bases in the Kathua and Doda border areas on Wednesday.
The DGP engaged with the security personnel, assessed security situations, and stressed operational readiness.
In light of several recent attacks by terrorists in the last quarter of 2024, the Army and security forces have intensified their vigilance. Notable attacks occurred on October 20, 2024, in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal district, on October 24 in Botapathri, Gulmarg, and on November 2 of last year in Srinagar.
In these incidents, 10 civilians, including six non-local workers from an infrastructure firm and a local doctor, lost their lives in Gagangir; two civilians serving as Army porters were killed in Botapathri; and a woman was fatally injured in a terrorist grenade attack in Srinagar on November 2 of the previous year.
Additionally, two Army personnel were killed during the Botapathri incident.
