Jammu, March 19 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 12 locations in Jammu on Wednesday, linked to a case of terrorist infiltration from across the border into J&K.
Authorities reported that teams from the J&K Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are collaborating with NIA agents during these operations.
“Raids commenced simultaneously at 12 locations early this morning,” the officials stated.
These operations are targeted at the residences of terror overground workers (OGWs) and individuals sympathetic to terrorism.
“The searches are part of a case initiated by the NIA under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on October 24, 2024.
“The FIR number RC-04/2024/NIA/JMU was filed based on intelligence regarding the infiltration of active terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) into Indian territory via the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) in J&K,” officials indicated.
Officials further noted that OGWs and other terror affiliates in villages throughout the Jammu region, who provided logistical support, food, shelter, and funding to the infiltrators, facilitated these operations.
It is noteworthy that the NIA performed similar searches last November, seizing various incriminating documents from the suspects' locations.
The NIA is investigating most terrorism-related cases in the union territory, including cases against the banned JKLF leader, Yasin Malik, and separatist figures like Shabir Shah and Nayeem Khan.
In the case involving Yasin Malik, the NIA achieved a life sentence for him from a designated court, while cases against other terror supporters and facilitators are progressing through legal scrutiny.
Additionally, the NIA has strongly opposed the regular bail request of MP Engineer Rashid, who is currently incarcerated in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
The agency has argued in court that Engineer Rashid, being a prominent individual, could tamper with crucial evidence if granted bail.
