New Delhi, Sep 8 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) executed wide-ranging searches at 22 different sites spanning five states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) as part of an ongoing investigation into a terror conspiracy, officials reported.
As per officials, the search efforts included eight sites in Bihar, one in Karnataka, one in Maharashtra, one in Tamil Nadu, two in Uttar Pradesh, and nine in J&K.
In the Union Territory, searches took place in Budgam, Kulgam, Pattan, Pulwama, and Kangan.
The agency is examining several significant terror cases, including those related to terror financing and the killings of civilians.
Among the prominent cases under scrutiny is the attack on June 9, 2024, in the Reasi district of the Jammu division, which resulted in the deaths of nine pilgrims and left many others injured.
The investigation into the murder of these nine pilgrims was assigned to the NIA, following allegations that certain locals provided safe haven to the terrorists responsible for the Reasi terror attack.
Additionally, the inquiry into the April 22 terror assault in Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, was also transferred to the NIA.
On July 28, 2025, joint forces eliminated three Pakistani terrorists—Suleman, Jibran, and Hamza Afghani—in the foothills of Mahadev Peak within the higher reaches of Dachigam National Park located in the Harwan area of Srinagar district.
These three terrorists linked to Pahalgam were tracked and identified through photographs recovered from a mobile device seized by security forces during an encounter in south Kashmir in 2024, officials confirmed.
Monday's searches follow a massive operation conducted by the NIA on June 5, 2025, which involved raids at 32 locations across J&K, including Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Baramulla, and Kupwara districts.
This operation focused on overground workers (OGWs) affiliated with various terror groups involved in the conspiracy. Several suspects were apprehended, and incriminating materials, including digital devices and documents, were confiscated.
According to officials, the recent wave of raids aims to dismantle the networks and infrastructure associated with terror organizations. The NIA is committed to identifying operatives, tracing funding sources, and gathering evidence in its persistent efforts to stabilize the Valley.
Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
