Jammu, Jan 28 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) executed raids at six sites in the Valley on Tuesday, as part of its ongoing probe into the murders of non-locals attributed to terrorist activities.
A statement from the NIA revealed, “On Tuesday, NIA carried out thorough searches across three districts of Jammu & Kashmir in connection with a case linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) involving the deaths of non-locals.”
The case pertains to the shooting of two civilians from Chamyari, Amritsar (Punjab) by terrorists, who attacked them on the evening of February 7, 2024, in the Shalla Kadal region of Srinagar.
“Amritpal Singh was killed on the spot, while Rohit Masi sustained critical injuries and died the following day at a Srinagar hospital. Today's operations targeted six sites in Srinagar, Badgam, and Sopore as part of case RC-01/2024/NIA/JMU, which was registered on June 15, 2024, under the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs,” the agency stated.
Previously, the agency had filed charges against four individuals in this matter.
“NIA teams have confiscated multiple incriminating materials from the residences of sympathizers, operatives, and overground workers (OGWs) associated with the banned terrorist organization, LeT, and its affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF),” the agency added.
The investigation has indicated that the suspects played a role in harboring, sheltering, and providing logistical support to terrorists.
“Current findings from NIA investigations suggest that the masterminds of LeT and TRF have been in contact with local youth in the Kashmir Valley to orchestrate assaults on non-locals, as part of a conspiracy aimed at inciting conflict against India,” the statement noted.
The criminal conspiracy appears to have been coordinated both in person and via cyberspace, utilizing encrypted social media applications.
“NIA is analyzing the materials gathered during the searches and is actively pursuing its investigation in this case,” the statement concluded.
