Wolverhampton, July 24 (NationPress) - Wolverhampton Wanderers have finalized the acquisition of Colombian talent Jhon Arias from Brazilian club Fluminense on a four-year contract, which includes an option for an additional year, as confirmed by the Premier League side on Thursday.
The 27-year-old forward joins Wolves following a stellar performance at the Club World Cup this summer and will be reuniting with Andre, a former teammate at Fluminense, as well as Yerson Mosquera, his compatriot.
Arias departs Fluminense having made significant contributions with 102 goals and assists combined, marking him as Wolves' second summer signing and enhancing Vitor Pereira’s attacking lineup.
The Colombian brings a wealth of experience, including personal accolades and team honors, with 31 international caps to his name.
Arias began his professional journey with Patriotas in 2018, amassing over 100 appearances in Colombia, while gaining valuable experience through loan spells with Llaneros, before securing permanent transfers to America de Cali and Santa Fe.
During his tenure at America de Cali, he clinched his first title - the Colombian Championship in 2020 - before making his way to Rio de Janeiro and Fluminense a year later.
He has been a consistent player for the club, showcasing his creativity across 229 matches in red and green, with a standout season in 2022, where he netted 16 goals and delivered 17 assists, securing his first of two Guanabara Cup titles.
The following year, alongside Andre in midfield, Arias achieved South America's premier title, winning the Copa Libertadores – the equivalent of the Champions League on the continent – where both were recognized in the Team of the Tournament.
Notably, Arias has previously captained the team and is known for his prowess on set pieces, contributing 13 assists in the first half of the 2025 campaign, before Fluminense focused on the Club World Cup this summer.
The winger excelled on the global stage in the United States, playing a key role in Brazil's journey to the semi-finals, earning the title of Player of the Match against Borussia Dortmund, Ulsan HD, and Inter Milan, while also securing a position in the competition’s Team of the Tournament.
Now making his move to Europe for the first time, Arias stands as Vitor Pereira's second signing of the summer, further augmenting the head coach’s attacking arsenal.
