Bengaluru, Jan 12 (NationPress) The Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) investigative committee, established in response to the controversy over the demolition and rehabilitation of encroachers in the Kogilu Layout area of Bengaluru, has called for an inquiry by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). This demand follows actions taken by the Congress-led state government after instructions from the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

After presenting a report to the State BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra at the party's headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, on Tuesday, Yelahanka BJP MLA S.R. Vishwanath stated that his committee has thoroughly investigated the situation.

Vishwanath urged that the NIA take over the investigations concerning the eviction of illegal residents in Kogilu Layout.

He accused the state government of attempting to hastily allocate homes to foreign nationals, emphasizing the necessity for an NIA investigation due to alleged foreign involvement.

The MLA demanded that the Congress-led government promptly remove those who have recently set up huts on government land in Bengaluru.

Vishwanath also claimed that among the nearly 100 scrap collectors in the city, approximately 95% were Rohingyas.

"They possess certain identity cards, but they refuse to provide details when asked. They assert that they crossed the border by paying money and indicated that there are organized groups facilitating illegal entry through West Bengal," he noted.

He highlighted that their language is neither Hindi nor Urdu, making it challenging to comprehend.

"One can distinctly identify Bangla and Rohingya languages. Recently, we even heard a woman chanting 'Jai Bangla' on a television program. They live here openly and without fear," he added.

Demanding actions against both Rohingyas and Bangladeshi nationals, BJP MLA Vishwanath asserted that reports suggest over two lakh Rohingyas and Bangladeshi individuals reside in the state.

"All such cases must be verified, and those found to be illegal should be arrested and either deported or face legal actions," he insisted.

He pointed out that homes constructed over stormwater drains had been demolished, and in Kacharakanahalli, huts were set ablaze for allegedly encroaching a lake.

"No compensation was provided even in those instances," he remarked.

Discussing housing issues in Bengaluru, BJP MLA Vishwanath stated that over 15,000 individuals are awaiting housing after applying.

"Illegal allotments of homes or assistance in violation of regulations should not be permitted. All actions must adhere strictly to the rules and not be disguised under humanitarian grounds," he added.

He alleged that while individuals who migrated from regions like Kalaburagi and were evicted after illegally occupying land received no compensation, foreign nationals are being supported.

"The BJP will not accept such favoritism under any circumstances. A thorough verification must be conducted by our capable police department," he asserted.

Referring to comments from Kerala leaders, BJP MLA Vishwanath said, "Didn’t the Kerala Chief Minister (Pinarayi Vijayan) and Congress General Secretary (K.C. Venugopal) make a lot of noise? Not a single person on the eviction list is from Kerala. All this drama was staged for votes in Kerala."

He emphasized that the state has been compromised for political gains elsewhere.

"Whether they are from Kerala or not is irrelevant; our state has been victimized for political motives. The majority on the demolition list are Muslims," he claimed.

BJP MLAs S.R. Vishwanath and S. Muniraju, State BJP Vice-President Malavika Avinash, State BJP General Secretary H.C. Thammesh Gowda, Bengaluru North District President S. Harish, retired IPS officer Bhaskar Rao, and other party officials were present during the report submission.

The fact-finding team, led by Yelahanka MLA Vishwanath, was tasked with investigating the eviction of alleged illegal residents in the Kogilu Layout area and submitted its report to State BJP President Vijayendra on Monday.

Karnataka Assembly Opposition leader and BJP leader R. Ashoka noted that 36 lakh individuals in Karnataka are awaiting housing after paying deposits.

"After neglecting these individuals, the Congress-led government has remained silent merely because politicians from Kerala raised concerns. Is Karnataka being governed by the INDIA bloc government of Kerala?" he questioned.

He further alleged that the Karnataka government allocated Rs 10 crore as compensation for a death resulting from an elephant attack, claiming that the elephant had wandered from Karnataka's forests.

"Are we servants of another state's leadership?" BJP leader Ashoka criticized the Congress government.

Referring to a post by the Kerala Chief Minister, BJP leader Ashoka stated, "The Kerala CM has declared that he will advocate for issues concerning Muslims anywhere in the country. Is our government accountable to them?"

BJP leader Ashoka also condemned the Congress government's stance on language issues.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted the significance of mother tongues, but the Kerala government has taken a negative stance. In Kasaragod district, where Kannada speakers are in the majority, they are being targeted. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has merely distanced himself from the issue by posting on social media," he accused.

Regarding the demolitions occurring in the Kogilu Layout area, BJP leader Ashoka mentioned that the BJP has staged protests and announced a major convention on January 17 to address the violence in Ballari and the alleged police misconduct against BJP MLA Gali Janardhana Reddy.

"We will question the breakdown of law and order in the state," he concluded.

Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy asserted that law and order has deteriorated in the state, and the state government's biased approach is evident.

"These issues have been brought to the attention of Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot," he confirmed.

Commenting on the demolitions in Kogilu and the rehabilitation of encroachers, Narayanaswamy stated that the state government has made a significant error.

"Demolishing encroachments and subsequently providing housing to encroachers is utterly incorrect. This matter requires discussion," he concluded.
