Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Jan 5 (NationPress) The President of Karnataka BJP and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra accused the Congress-led government of conspiring to transform Karnataka into a replica of Bangladesh.
During a demonstration held near the Country Club on Bagalur Main Road under the banner “Save Kogilu, remove illegal migrants,” Vijayendra condemned the plan to allocate homes to purported illegal migrants, labeling it an unforgivable offense, and declared that the BJP will initiate state-wide protests.
He charged that in Kogilu, Congress members facilitated water and electricity connections for illegal occupants, reportedly demanding bribes ranging between Rs 2–3 lakh.
Further, he accused the Congress party and its affiliates of engaging in bribery and conspiring to convert Karnataka into Bangladesh.
“India is a democracy, and BJP members are not the type to be cowed by such empty threats,” he remarked.
He urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to grasp this situation.
Vijayendra highlighted that it was the Congress-led government responsible for demolishing houses, but when AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal issued threats, Siddaramaiah, fearing the loss of his position, opted to house illegal migrants.
He claimed that Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, with aspirations of becoming chief minister, utilized K.C. Venugopal’s threats to pressure the CM and steer the government towards housing illegal migrants.
Vijayendra stated that the citizens of Karnataka are questioning whether K.C. Venugopal is the actual chief minister or if it's Siddaramaiah. He accused the government of disrespecting Hindus, noting that 38 lakh individuals in the state have applied for housing.
Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, voiced his concerns at the protest, claiming that individuals from Kerala had gathered, gathered information, and departed.
He argued that allowing them into the state was erroneous and they should have faced arrest. He questioned the authority of the government to allocate homes to Rohingyas who had come from Bangladesh.
He insisted that homes should be distributed legally and questioned why the government was showing favoritism in this particular case. He criticized the government for neglecting those who have paid and have been waiting.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA C.N. Ashwath Narayan stated that the Congress government is devoid of self-confidence and dignity.
He alleged that the government hastily declared it would provide homes to Bangladeshis within 24 hours, labeling this action as both immoral and illegal.
