Bengaluru, Sep 12 (NationPress) Karnataka's Home Minister, G. Parameshwara, has asserted that individuals who violate the law will face police consequences, emphasizing that making inflammatory speeches is unacceptable. This statement came in response to the recent Ganesh Visarjan violence in Maddur, located in the Mandya district.

During a media briefing in Bengaluru, Parameshwara remarked, "Concerning the Maddur incident, we have consistently maintained that the issue should not be politicized. It should be entrusted to the police. The authorities will apprehend those who engaged in stone-throwing and act according to legal standards. Regardless of whether the individual is a Muslim, Hindu, or from any other community, if they contravene the law, action will be taken. This matter should be managed by the police, and instead of inciting people through inflammatory speeches, such behavior is inappropriate."

He further questioned, "What do they aim to achieve by resorting to theatrical and inappropriate rhetoric? It is evident that these actions are politically motivated," the Minister stated.

The police have initiated a suo motu case against BJP MLC C.T. Ravi for delivering a provocative speech directed at a particular community. Following the Ganesh Visarjan violence, BJP and Hindu leaders visited Maddur and made various statements.

Regarding the transfer of an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) due to the violence, he noted that action will be taken if there is an internal failure. He confirmed that if any duty lapse is found, whether it involves an Inspector or a Sub-Inspector, appropriate measures will be taken.

On the Dhamasthala issue, where activist Mahesh Shetty Timrodi has raised concerns about four suspicious deaths in three lodges, Parameshwara responded to media inquiries by stating that it is currently under Special Investigation Team (SIT) verification to determine the validity of the complaint. If attempts are made to divert the case, the SIT will conduct a new investigation accordingly.

"We do not make decisions based merely on statements. All complaints presented to the SIT, supported by evidence, will be scrutinized, and a conclusion will be reached. If government approval is necessary, they will request it. As of now, no such approval has been sought," he explained.

Parameshwara added, "The SIT does not disclose its daily operations to the media or public. Many details remain confidential. This should not be misconstrued as a slowdown in investigations. The SIT will refrain from sharing any information until a comprehensive understanding is established."

When asked about the lack of arrests concerning supporters of complainant Chinnayya in the Dhamasthala case, he stated, "We cannot instruct the SIT on whom to arrest and when. Immediate arrests cannot be made based solely on media reports. The SIT will gather necessary evidence before proceeding to take any action."

He emphasized that security will be provided to Booker Prize recipient, writer, and activist Banu Mushtaq, and urged against any remarks on this matter.

“We are currently evaluating the possibility of relaxing the age limit for police constable recruitment. We are looking into the practices of other states. Recruitment for these positions has been stagnant for years, and there have been requests to extend the age limit by two or three years. Numerous individuals have approached me regarding this, and I have directed the DGP accordingly. Following the proposal's submission, we will proceed with the next steps. The inter-district transfers for police couples are being executed as per government directives,” he concluded.
