Chennai, Nov 10 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK leader, M.K. Stalin, has strongly criticized the BJP, labeling the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) as a political instrument designed by the ruling party at the Centre to intimidate its political opponents, akin to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
During a wedding event for the son of Srirangam MLA M. Palaniyandi in Tiruchy, CM Stalin stated, “The SIR is merely a new strategy employed by the BJP to instill fear in the DMK. However, their tactics will fail in Tamil Nadu.”
He emphasized that the DMK has consistently opposed the SIR since its inception and called upon party members to ensure that the statewide protest planned for Tuesday achieves significant success.
“The SIR represents an aggressive approach against the DMK. We have already approached the Supreme Court regarding this issue. Interestingly, the AIADMK has sought to join the case now. If they were truly concerned, they should have filed a separate petition. I suspect a political conspiracy is at play here,” he remarked.
CM Stalin further asserted that the DMK is a grassroots movement that remains active, whether in power or during election periods.
“Even when we are not in governance, the DMK continues to be active. Our dedicated cadres have enabled the party to maintain its stature for 75 years,” he noted.
He also highlighted the relentless efforts of the leadership.
“I have been engaging with district secretaries over the past few months. I have visited 80 districts so far, and I intend to complete the remaining visits soon,” CM Stalin added.
In response to AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s criticism regarding the training of Booth Level Agents (BLAs), Stalin clarified that the DMK had trained BLA-2 members to assist Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who are government officials, and accused Palaniswami of making statements without comprehending the facts.
Earlier at the event, MLA M. Palaniyandi contributed ₹50 lakh to the DMK’s election fund, receiving applause from the party officials present.
