Hosted by the state Department of Fisheries, in collaboration with the Central government and the European Union, the conclave aims to enhance partnerships for sustainable, ocean-based economic growth.
Before the official sessions, EU representatives participated in a field excursion to immerse themselves in Kerala’s marine and cultural environment.
Guided by the Ambassador of the European Union to India, Herve Delphin, the delegation's journey began at Hawa Beach in Kovalam, where they engaged with local fishermen.
Numerous delegates expressed their admiration for the community’s resilience and even participated in hauling nets, experiencing firsthand the hard work involved in the early-morning catch.
The group later toured the Adani Vizhinjam International Seaport, where AVPPL CEO Pradeep Jayaraman and Managing Director Divya S. Iyer provided insights into the port’s operations.
During their visit, delegates appreciated the facility’s strategic location and cutting-edge infrastructure.
The EU delegation also visited the Kerala Arts and Crafts Village in Vellar, where they praised the artistry displayed through traditional crafts and curios.
The contingent included senior diplomats such as Robert Maxian (Slovakia), Juan Antonio March Pujol (Spain), Antonio Enrico Bartoli (Italy), Reuben Gauci (Malta), Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen (Denmark), Dr. Piotr Switalski (Poland), Yankov (Bulgaria), Kimmo Lahdevirta (Finland), Sena Latif (Romania), Simon H.
