New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) In a stunning display of skill, Ketan Malik from Haryana outperformed a formidable lineup that included Paris Olympic double medalist Manu Bhaker and Asian Games gold medalist Palak Gulia to clinch victory in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol (APW) event at the ongoing 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi on Thursday.

Ketan secured the gold medal with a score of 240.0, edging out Meenu Pathak from Delhi, who took home the silver with 238.4, while Surbhi Rao rounded off the podium with a bronze at 219.5. In the Junior Women’s category, Vanshika Chaudhary from Uttar Pradesh triumphed, narrowly defeating Anjali Shekhawat for gold by just 0.2, with Palak Gulia securing bronze. In the youth division, Lakshita Bishnoi of the Army Marksmanship Unit claimed the title after a tight 0.6 win over Rashmika Sahgal, with Sanskriti Bana completing the podium.

The final event followed a rigorous qualification phase, where more than 900 shooters participated across 39 relays. Palak Gulia was the standout in qualification, finishing with a score of 582-24x, alongside Manu Bhaker, also at 582 but placed second due to the inner-10 count of 19x. Ketan qualified third with 581-16x. Other finalists included Mohini Singh and Meenu Pathak, who both had scores of 579.

In the final showdown, Manu Bhaker finished in seventh place with 137.2, while Anjali Choudhary ended with 110.1. Mohini Singh took fourth at 197.9, and Anjali Shekhawat was sixth with 157.5.

In the Junior APW final, Vanshika Chaudhary shot an impressive 240.5 to take gold. Anjali Shekhawat closely followed with silver, just 0.2 behind, while Palak Gulia captured bronze with 218.0. Payal Khatri and Lakshita Bishnoi finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Notably, Ketan Malik finished sixth in this category as well.

In the Youth APW final, Lakshita Bishnoi snagged gold after a tightly contested match against Rashmika Sahgal, who settled for silver. Sanskriti Bana secured bronze with 218.5. Priyanshi Purva, who topped youth qualifications, finished fifth in the final.

In the Senior APW team event, Haryana triumphed with an aggregate score of 1735, while Delhi and the Army Marksmanship Unit followed with silver and bronze, respectively. Haryana also dominated the Junior Women’s Team event.

The upcoming 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team events will be held at the same venue on Friday.
