New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge convened a meeting with the District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents from diverse districts of Karnataka, emphasizing the need for collective efforts towards community welfare. Kharge praised their roles in enhancing the party's strength, stating, “You lead the charge in safeguarding and advancing the Congress party's ideology. Together, we will fortify the party and work cohesively for the people's welfare, adhering to the principles enshrined in the Constitution.
The Congress President shared images from the gathering at his official residence on social media, signaling the party's commitment to transformative changes in its operational approach across state branches. As per party insiders, there is a move to ‘empower’ district presidents nationwide, granting them the authority to appoint new office-bearers and dismiss underperformers.
Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, a participant in the DCC assembly, endorsed this revitalization strategy, noting that the historic party has initiated a novel approach to bolster its national presence.
“I am thrilled with this initiative led by Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. Critical areas such as media, social media, party resources, membership, and voter list verification are being tackled through extensive training. This is indeed a significant advancement!” he expressed.
Just a day prior, Kharge had encouraged the party’s district committee leaders to present a unified front and devise a long-term strategy for upcoming State election victories.
He noted that while the party’s ideology is robust, it cannot be effectively implemented without being in power.
“Elections are slated for next year (March-April 2026) in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu. It is your duty to ensure success for every candidate in your district. We will collaborate, but you are our frontline defenders on the ground. Your insights will be vital in formulating our strategy, and we will consider them,” he added.
