Bengaluru, Nov 24 (NationPress) In response to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks about an alleged leadership conflict in Karnataka, the JD(S) ridiculed Kharge on Monday, asserting that he wields no real power within the party and functions merely as a rubber-stamp President.
The JD(S) took to social media platform X to express, "Mr. Kharge, do you truly lead the Indian National Congress (INC)? Or are you simply overseeing the Karnataka Congress? Your desperate statements reveal that, despite your title, you lack authority over party matters. This clearly indicates that you are just a rubber-stamp president, further highlighting the subservience present in the Congress party."
During a media briefing, Kharge remarked on Sunday night, "You (the media) have been here for three days straight. I feel uncomfortable about this. It's inappropriate for me to comment when there’s nothing substantial to discuss. My sincere request is that I have no updates for you at this moment."
Kharge continued, "Please grasp that there’s nothing to announce regarding any issues or recent developments. Your repeated presence here is a waste of both your time and mine, and I share your discomfort as you endure the elements."
He added, "Ultimately, the High Command will arrive at a decision. Thus, it’s unnecessary for you to exert yourselves too much over this."
A group of MLAs from the camp of Deputy Chief Minister and State President D.K. Shivakumar traveled to Delhi on Sunday night.
Senior MLA H.C. Balakishna, along with Kadaluru Uday, Nayana Motamma, Iqbal Hussain, and Sharath Bachegowda, arrived in Delhi to confer with AICC leaders.
Meanwhile, Deputy CM Shivakumar had a meeting with Minister for Power K.J. George in Bengaluru, as per party sources. This meeting is noteworthy as Minister George is closely aligned with Sonia Gandhi. In contrast, Ministers and MLAs from the CM Siddaramaiah camp are organizing a dinner meeting.
On Saturday, CM Siddaramaiah met with Kharge at his residence in Bengaluru, discussing for approximately an hour and a half.
He emphasized that the High Command's verdict is final, stating both he and Shivakumar will comply with the decisions made by central leaders.
