Hyderabad, Feb 9 (NationPress) The Union Minister for Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP president, G. Kishan Reddy, stated on Sunday that the citizens of Telangana are inclined towards having a double-engine government led by the BJP in the state.

He participated in the festivities organized by the BJP at its Telangana headquarters to commemorate the party's substantial victory in the Delhi Assembly elections.

According to him, the BJP's return to power in Delhi, after a 27-year hiatus, is a testament to the public's support. "The people of Delhi have granted BJP a significant majority, demonstrating their backing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose guidance the central government is implementing numerous development and welfare initiatives," he remarked.

Kishan Reddy expressed optimism that the double-engine government in Delhi would facilitate swift progress in the region.

He asserted that states electing BJP's double-engine governments have experienced rapid development.

"States like Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra, which have opted for double-engine governance, are advancing quickly," he noted.

Kishan Reddy claimed that the residents of Telangana share a desire for a double-engine government. "The BJP is making efforts in this regard," he added.

Prominent leaders, including MPs K. Laxman and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, participated in the celebrations.

A multitude of BJP supporters attended the festivities, waving party flags, chanting slogans, igniting firecrackers, and distributing sweets.

Following the celebrations, Kishan Reddy convened a meeting with BJP corporators in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to address civic concerns and strategize for the upcoming MLC elections.

Additionally, he discussed plans for the GHMC standing committee elections.

The elections for the 15-member standing committee are set for February 10.

In the previous elections held in March of the previous year, eight corporators from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and seven from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) were elected.

However, the recent defection of GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi and other BRS corporators to the Congress has altered the dynamics within the civic body.
