New Delhi, April 9 (NationPress) KL Rahul’s impressive innings of 92 runs off 52 balls in the closely contested match against Gujarat Titans has sparked renewed discussions about his techniques at the crease. Ambati Rayudu emphasized the significance of ‘mindset’ as a crucial element influencing Rahul's performances.

During the chase of a challenging 211 runs in Ahmedabad, Rahul started off slowly with 20 runs from 17 balls while evaluating the pitch conditions. However, once he settled in, he accelerated his scoring, reaching his half-century in just 29 balls. A particularly dynamic over against Prasidh Krishna, which included 4, 6, 6, 4, illustrated his capacity to overpower even top-quality bowlers.

Rayudu commented on the innings, stating that Rahul’s ability to hit shots has never been in doubt. “At first, he was cautious, taking his time. But he switched gears beautifully. Perhaps that's his designated role in the DC squad, to bat long,” he shared with ESPNCricinfo.

Rahul’s strategy appeared intentional that night. Instead of playing aggressively right away, he opted to stabilize the chase, keeping Delhi Capitals within reach of the target. Despite losing wickets at the other end, he stayed calm, pacing his innings to stretch the game.

Rayudu noted that Rahul’s primary challenge lies not in his skills but in his decision-making.

“We all recognize that once he’s settled, he can hit boundaries off any delivery. That’s been Rahul’s trademark over the years. It’s all about his mindset, the timing and manner in which he chooses to execute his shots. This is the ongoing battle for him, as he possesses the talent to take on spinners, fast bowlers, and any delivery length. Therefore, his challenge is the approach he adopts at the crease,” Rayudu explained.

On this occasion, Rahul’s intent was unmistakable: to remain till the end and secure the win. Although he fell just short of achieving a memorable victory, his performance became the highest individual score of the season thus far for Delhi Capitals, eclipsing his teammate Sameer Rizvi.

Rayudu acknowledged the quality of Rahul’s innings despite the outcome. “Today he aimed to bat deep, and he executed that goal excellently. Let’s not overlook the fact that he played a remarkable innings,” stated the former CSK player.

After a rocky start to the season, where he scored 0 and 1 in his initial two games, Rahul’s resurgence is a timely boost for the team. With two victories out of their first three matches, Delhi Capitals are set to face Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in hopes of building momentum.
