Bengaluru, Nov 24 (NationPress) The BJP faction in Karnataka asserted on Monday the necessity for voter list revision in the state, mirroring the actions taken in Bihar.

R. Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition and a senior figure in the BJP, expressed via the social media platform X, "It is imperative that voter list revision occurs in Karnataka. There are suspicions that approximately three lakh illegal Bangladeshi immigrants are residing in Bengaluru alone."

He further accused the Congress party of utilizing illegal immigrants as a vote bank, claiming their resistance to voter list revision is for this very reason. He insisted that Karnataka should adopt the Bihar model for the voter list revision.

During a press conference in Bengaluru, he declared that protests would be organized in all Assembly constituencies on November 27 and 28 to denounce the Congress-led government’s "anti-farmer" policies.

Additionally, protests are scheduled at district headquarters on December 1 and 2.

He unveiled a poster titled 'Congress Government Betrays Farmers'.

A short film showcasing what he termed as the Congress-led government's "anti-farmer" actions was also presented, according to BJP leader Ashoka.

He indicated plans to visit Kalaburagi on November 25 and Hosapete on November 26.

In the two-and-a-half years since the Congress government took power, Ashoka contended that its poor administration has led to daily hardships for farmers.

"Farmers across the state are suffering due to crop loss and the lack of support prices. The government’s failure to properly manage water in the Almatti reservoir resulted in farmers missing the chance to cultivate a second crop," he stated.

He criticized the slow progress of repairs on the Tungabhadra dam gates.

"Water from Karnataka is flowing to Andhra Pradesh, and the state government is to blame for this," he remarked.

He also noted, "Compensation for farmers impacted by excessive rainfall is still pending; delays in opening maize procurement centers have occurred; farmers have been denied water for their second crop; and milk incentive payments remain unresolved."

In light of these issues, Ashoka announced that the BJP Kisan Morcha would conduct protests and demonstrations at all district and taluk headquarters statewide.

“When the BJP was in power under Chief Ministers Yediyurappa and Bommai, special packages were allocated for farmers during floods. Six months after the floods, the Congress government is still hesitating.

He alleged that the Ministers are occupied with trips to Delhi.

"Breakfast at Siddaramaiah's residence, dinner at D.K. Shivakumar's—this is the extent of their actions," he added.

He described the current administration as a government of jesters, saying, "They claim to be socialist, yet their actions suggest otherwise."

On the leadership conflict, Ashoka commented, "For the past six months, the state government has been embroiled in a struggle for the Chief Minister's position. There is ongoing conflict over who should occupy the chair. Each leader pulls at the CM's chair—Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar, Parameshwara, and Jarakiholi have all contributed to its instability. Today, there is no viable Chief Minister's chair left in Karnataka," he noted.

He went on to say, "Some assert they have 60 MLAs backing them; others claim 70. Allegations from opposition leaders indicate that Rs 60–70 crore has been exchanged. The practice of horse-trading has commenced. Not a single Minister is addressing the farmers' distress," he stated.

In response to a question, Ashoka remarked, "Mallikarjun Kharge is merely a nominal President of the Congress. His position lacks authority. The AICC President should have been the genuine High Command, yet he now relies on others."

Present at the press conference were several BJP leaders, including Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, Chief Whip in the Council N. Ravikumar, BJP Kisan Morcha State President A.S. Patil Nadahalli, BJP State Secretary Sharan T, BJP Kisan Morcha Vice-President Bharati Mallikarjun, and State Spokesperson Mohan Vishva.
