Bengaluru, Oct 14 (NationPress) The unfortunate death of a woman librarian due to unpaid salary was reported on Tuesday from Kalaburagi district, Karnataka. The BJP has criticized the Congress-led government, claiming that this incident reveals its "bankruptcy".
Bhagyavati V. Aggimath, a 40-year-old librarian, tragically ended her life at the state government-operated library 'Arivu Centre' on Monday in Mulakheda village, Kalaburagi district, leaving a note behind. She had dedicated six years to her role.
In her note, Bhagyavati expressed that she was taking such a drastic action due to extreme financial hardship stemming from three months of unpaid salary. Her family claimed that despite multiple attempts to contact the relevant authorities regarding the overdue payment, they received no response. She struggled to manage household expenses and pay for her two children's education.
Her family has held the department accountable for her death and is seeking compensation, along with a job for one family member. The police have initiated an investigation into the case.
On social media platform X, BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra stated, "The tragic death of librarian Bhagyavati Vishweshwarayya Aggimath from Sedam taluk in Kalaburagi district, who took her life due to severe distress from unpaid salaries, has exposed the heartless system of the Congress government in Karnataka. This incident is a disgrace to civil society."
"The callous state government has reached a point where it cannot even fulfill its obligations to employees, creating unbearable hardships for workers who rely entirely on their salaries for survival. This government attitude is utterly condemnable. The grieving family of Bhagyavati Aggimath is in dire need, and the government must immediately provide adequate compensation and employment for a family member to support her dependent children," Vijayendra insisted.
From the Chief Minister to other ministers and officials, there has been a lack of response to the issues faced by the people and farmers; instead, they appear indifferent and focused solely on political power. Minister Priyank Kharge has also shown no concern to understand the suffering of his own district or to listen to the pleas of the underprivileged, he added.
The negligence and careless approach of the Congress government have been starkly highlighted by this incident.
