Bengaluru, June 10 (NationPress) The Congress-led administration in Karnataka has confirmed its plans to refresh the caste census report by initiating a resurvey within a defined timeframe, with the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah set to announce the date following a Cabinet meeting.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who also serves as the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), made these remarks to the media on Tuesday in New Delhi after engaging with AICC leaders.
"We have resolved to address the issues surrounding the caste census and the confusion related to community data. Everyone will be granted another chance to provide their details through both door-to-door surveys and online methods. "Concerning the caste census, we have resolved to reach a conclusive decision during the Cabinet meeting scheduled for June 12. Our MPs, MLAs, and various organizations have consulted with our leadership on this issue.
"In light of the dissent expressed by certain organizations and communities regarding the caste census, our leadership has directed us to ensure equitable opportunities for all. It is crucial that no one is excluded from this census; inclusivity is paramount. The Chief Minister has been instructed to maintain harmony throughout this process," Shivakumar conveyed.
"The Karnataka government is dedicated to social equity. Numerous communities have voiced concerns over the data in the caste census. Therefore, we aim to provide everyone with an opportunity to clarify their status. The public must accurately declare their community affiliation. We encourage community leaders and seers to assist in this endeavor," Shivakumar urged.
"Over the last two months, we have been conducting a census for Scheduled Castes concerning internal reservations. As this process will be extensive, we will hold discussions and make decisions in the Cabinet. We will ensure that everyone's perspectives are considered and justice is served. There is no need for concern. We will address the uncertainties surrounding the caste census. Residents across our state will have the chance to submit their information online regarding this matter," Shivakumar clarified.
When questioned about discussions related to the stampede incident, he affirmed, "This topic was addressed. Our party regards this tragedy seriously. We have fully briefed our leadership about the incident and clarified the facts involved."

Yet, we have observed that some segments of the population have concerns about the counting during the caste census and that the census conducted by the Karnataka government a decade ago holds outdated data."
