Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Jan 16 (NationPress) To address concerns regarding any potential rifts between the BJP and JD(S) during the local body elections, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, clarified that there is absolutely no ambiguity about the alliance for the Bengaluru civic polls.
Kumaraswamy made these remarks during a meeting at the party office, which was attended by the party's National President and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, focusing on the Greater Bengaluru elections.
He emphasized the importance of party members and leaders collaborating in a manner that strengthens the alliance ahead of the Greater Bengaluru elections. He encouraged everyone to unite with the goal of achieving victories in more wards.
Kumaraswamy advised that if any local issues or misunderstandings arise, leaders should refrain from making public remarks. “Report such matters to us. Avoid public statements,” he warned.
He pointed to the successful performance of the NDA alliance in the Maharashtra local body elections, expressing confidence that similar results would be seen in Bengaluru.
Kumaraswamy urged BJP and JD(S) members to join forces to secure this outcome.
He criticized the ruling Congress party for its poor governance in the state, stating, “People are frustrated with the Congress party’s mismanagement. The infrastructure in Bengaluru is in disrepair, with potholes everywhere. The public is being exploited through taxes and price hikes. It's time to enlighten them about this.”
H.D. Deve Gowda also spoke at the gathering, urging leaders and workers to fortify the party at the ward and booth levels.
“Our party enjoys a robust foundation in Bengaluru. My contributions to the city's development as Chief Minister and Prime Minister are significant. Ensure that this message reaches the people. We have facilitated Cauvery water access, constructed the Sirsi Circle flyover, advanced the IT sector, and provided tax incentives for it,” he directed party leaders and workers.
Present at the meeting were Youth Janata Dal State President Nikhil Kumaraswamy, Core Committee Chairman M. Krishnareddy, Legislature Party Leader Suresh Babu, MP Mallesh Babu, and leaders from various Bengaluru city constituencies, including former MLAs.
