Lebanese Military Engages Unknown Assailants Crossing from Syria into Lebanon

Beirut, Dec 11 (NationPress) Members of the Lebanese army discharged warning shots at unidentified assailants who infiltrated from the Syrian border into Lebanon in the vicinity of the village of Kfar Qouq, located in eastern Lebanon, according to a statement from the Lebanese army.
"Unidentified assailants originating from Syrian territory breached the border and approached one of the army's border posts, discharging their weapons into the air," stated the announcement shared on the social media platform X.
"In response, the Lebanese army fired warning shots, compelling the assailants to retreat back into Syrian territory," the statement further elaborated.
A military source from Lebanon informed Xinhua that "the Lebanese army called in additional forces to this sector, conducting an extensive combing operation that extended mere meters from the border with Syria."
The Lebanese army has bolstered its presence and deployment along the border that delineates Lebanon and Syria, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
On Sunday, the government of Syria, led by al-Assad, faced a significant collapse amid a major offensive initiated by militant factions spearheaded by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.
