Mumbai, March 13 (NationPress) Actress and writer Lisa Ray expressed her feelings regarding the recent turmoil in Dubai, reflecting on themes of uncertainty, resilience, and the significance of art during challenging times.

In a heartfelt message on her social media, Lisa shared, “A few years back, I created a serene space online to share my poetry. Words have consistently been my sanctuary — a refuge when clarity fades and language remains the only solid ground I can stand on.”

She added, “I’ve been privately crafting a collection of poems. Now seems like the right moment for that part of me to emerge. In dark times, we create. We make art. We seek out words to bear what feels too heavy to shoulder alone.”

Addressing the ongoing tensions in Dubai, she noted, “Witnessing events transpire in our second home, Dubai, has been challenging — and while I acknowledge the relative safety for UAE citizens and commendable leadership, I still feel the weight of uncertainty. The messages exchanged among friends, the collective holding of breath, it's palpable.”

“This poem was born spontaneously, shared unedited this morning for everyone navigating instability.”

She recounted her husband’s childhood experiences of living under missile threats in Lebanon, stating, “My husband spent his early years with missiles overhead. This is a tribute to his spirit and the resilience of his family — and to families around the globe for whom 'normal' has always included the sound of sirens.”

“The line: ‘when you reach for petals and the head is missing’ was inspired by a line that struck me deeply in my sister @avnidoshi’s upcoming novel, The First House.

“When my husband enters the bedroom we've shared for thirteen years and tells me he wishes to end our marriage, I reach for my neck. My head is missing.”

She concluded, “Art resonates with art. We draw strength from each other’s words. If these are uncertain times, let us respond with creation. Let us respond with compassion. Let us respond with our voices.”

In her poignant post, Lisa conveyed her concerns regarding the anxiety surrounding recent events in Dubai, a place she cherishes as her “second home.”

She articulated the unease and the ongoing exchanges of anxious messages among friends.

On the professional side, Lisa has enjoyed a varied acting career spanning both Indian and international cinema, gaining recognition from films such as Kasoor and critically acclaimed works like Water, directed by Deepa Mehta.

Throughout her career, she has participated in Hindi, Tamil, and international productions, as well as appearing in television and digital media.

On a personal note, Lisa has inspired many by bravely confronting her battle with multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2009. After treatment, she proudly announced her cancer-free status.
