New Delhi, Oct 8 (NationPress) Luke Donald, the European Ryder Cup Captain, is ready to take the stage at the $4 million DP World India Championship this October, marking his first appearance since his remarkable back-to-back victories against the United States. By leading Europe to a 15-13 victory at Bethpage Black, Donald achieved a historic win on foreign soil, the first since 2012. His remarkable journey continues after the triumphant event at Marco Simone two years prior, making him only the second European Captain to secure victories both at home and abroad, following Tony Jacklin in 1985 and 1987.

Joining Donald in this impressive lineup are notable players from his European teams, including Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland, and Shane Lowry. The prestigious DP World India Championship will take place at the Delhi Golf Club from October 16-19, featuring the largest prize money ever for a DP World Tour event in India. As a seven-time DP World Tour champion, Donald will be making his professional debut in India at the historic Lodhi Course. His career has flourished in Asia, with notable victories such as the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in Japan in 2012 and 2013, contributing to his impressive total of 17 global wins.

This championship, co-sanctioned with the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), signifies a new era for professional golf in India, following the success of the 2025 Hero Indian Open, and positions India as a leading destination for global golf.

Alongside Donald and four stars from his team, the global field at the Delhi Golf Club will also include American Major champion Brian Harman and two-time PGA TOUR winner Ben Griffin, who made his Ryder Cup debut in New York earlier this year. Former European Ryder Cup players including Nicolas Colsaerts, who celebrated his 500th DP World appearance last week, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Ross Fisher, Andy Sullivan, and Bernd Wiesberger will also compete. They will be joined by a host of 2025 Race to Dubai winners, including American Michael Kim, who recently secured his first DP World Tour win in France, as well as South African Thriston Lawrence, French players Martin Couvra and Adrien Saddier, Englishmen Richard Mansell, John Parry, and Jordan Smith, and Hero Indian Open champion Eugenio Chacarra from Spain.

More than 20 Indian players will strive to shine on home ground, including Shubhankar Sharma, a two-time DP World Tour champion, Anirban Lahiri, an 18-time global winner, Shiv Kapur, a seven-time global winner, and Veer Ahlawat, who earned his 2025 DP World Tour card by topping last season’s PGTI Rankings.
