Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 12 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, announced on Wednesday that Maharashtra has established itself as India's new startup hub, achieving remarkable records in both the number of startups and investments. He emphasized that the state is now the prime destination for foreign direct investment.
In merely nine months, investments totaling Rs 1.39 lakh crore have flowed into Maharashtra.
During the country's leading entrepreneurial leadership summit, "Dhanda First", the Chief Minister received the “TIE Mumbai Hall of Fame” award from Infosys founder Narayana Murthy for his exceptional contributions to infrastructure development, investment, and water conservation.
The event was hosted by TIECON Mumbai.
Dedicating this accolade to the people of Maharashtra, the Chief Minister remarked that it symbolizes the initiatives launched under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014.
“The various infrastructure projects visible in Maharashtra, particularly in Mumbai and the MMR area—including the Coastal Road, Atal Setu, Metro, and Vadhavan projects—are testament to effective governance,” he stated.
“The Vadhvan Port is set to be three times the size of JNPT Port, a key port in India. Construction has commenced, and this port will not only be a port but will also feature an airport and a bullet train station. A new Mumbai will rise around the Vadhvan Port area,” he added.
“In the domain of water conservation, 14 diverse schemes have been launched by six different departments, which were unified into a single initiative aimed at making 25,000 villages drought-free through the Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan. Thanks to public involvement, 20,000 villages have successfully implemented water conservation strategies, built reservoirs, and achieved drought-free status by 2019. This initiative has also contributed to raising groundwater levels in drought-affected Marathwada,” concluded the Chief Minister.
