Jaipur, Oct 31 (NationPress) In a significant counter-terrorism operation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Rajasthan apprehended three individuals in the early hours of Friday from the districts of Jodhpur and Jalore. Preliminary investigations indicate that two of the detainees are clerics affiliated with religious educational institutions and are believed to have ties to an international terrorist organization.
The operation was initiated following reliable intelligence received from the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
At approximately 5 a.m., coordinated raids were executed by teams from the NIA, ATS, and IB in areas including Chaukha and Pipar in Jodhpur, as well as Sanchore in Jalore district.
Two suspects were captured: one from Chaukha and Pipar, while another was taken into custody in Sanchore.
Among those detained, Ayub, a resident of Chaukha village, along with the suspect from Sanchore, reportedly has connections to a religious organization. During the operation, authorities confiscated numerous mobile devices, laptops, and potentially suspicious documents, which are under analysis.
All three individuals have been transported to Jodhpur for further interrogation, where various security and intelligence agencies are collaboratively questioning them to ascertain the breadth of their activities and affiliations.
Initial reports suggest that the suspects may have communicated with members of an Islamic organization operating abroad. In response to these findings, the Central government has instructed the agencies to implement this coordinated operation.
In the aftermath of the operation, local law enforcement has heightened security measures in the implicated areas and issued directives to avert the spread of rumors or communal unrest.
As of now, the NIA and ATS have refrained from issuing formal statements regarding the detained individuals or the organizations implicated, citing the sensitive nature of the ongoing investigation. However, sources suggest that these arrests could unveil critical insights into cross-border terror connections and radicalization networks operating through religious and educational institutions in western Rajasthan.
Further updates are anticipated.
