Raipur, March 31 (NationPress) Security forces have discovered the body of a female Maoist along with an assortment of weapons, including an INSAS rifle, additional ammunition, and essential supplies from the site of the encounter near the Dantewada-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh, officials confirmed on Monday.

A team of security personnel initiated an anti-Naxal operation in the border region of the Dantewada and Bijapur districts.

Officials indicated that intense firing between the Maoists and security forces has persisted since 9 a.m.

The Dantewada-Bijapur border is recognized as the most sensitive area affected by Maoist activities in Chhattisgarh.

On March 20, security forces successfully eliminated 30 Maoists across two separate encounters—26 near the Dantewada-Bijapur border and four in Kanker. Furthermore, on March 25, security forces neutralized three Maoists during a fierce gunfight near the Dantewada-Bijapur border. This encounter, which took place along the banks of the Indravati River, represents a substantial achievement in the ongoing anti-Maoist operations aimed at rendering India Naxal-free by the following year.

On Sunday, prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Chhattisgarh, 50 Maoists surrendered to security forces.

The day before, 15 Maoists in the Dantewada district also surrendered, committing to reintegrate into society. Their surrender was part of the ‘Lon Varratu’ (Come Back Home) initiative, which has been vigorously promoted in villages by the District Police Force and the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force).

This campaign has effectively motivated numerous Maoists, including prominent Naxal leaders, to disarm and adopt a peaceful lifestyle.

Under the new policy, those who surrender will receive benefits from the Chhattisgarh government’s comprehensive rehabilitation program, which includes financial support of Rs 25,000, skill development training, agricultural land, and additional assistance.

The recently introduced 'Naxal Surrender/Victim Relief and Rehabilitation Policy-2025' further amplifies these advantages, providing increased compensation, job opportunities, land, and free education for victims of Naxal violence. To date, the Lon Varratu campaign has enabled the surrender of 977 Maoists, as reported by officials.
