Have Two Women Maoists Been Arrested in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur?

Raipur, July 9 (NationPress) In a remarkable achievement for the ongoing anti-Maoist initiatives, the Narayanpur police in Chhattisgarh have successfully detained six active Maoists, which include two women, from the Kutul Local Operating Squad (LOS).

The operation, executed in the densely forested areas of the Maad division, represents a significant triumph for security forces engaged in the fight against Left-wing extremism in the Bastar region.

The arrests occurred on Tuesday and comprised four male and two female operatives, all of whom are believed to have participated in numerous Maoist-related activities in the vicinity.

The arrested women have been identified as Paro Hapka and Sunita, who is also known by her alias Sangeeta Mandavi. Both were seen as pivotal figures within the Kutul LOS and had been monitored for their alleged involvement in recent assaults on security personnel and local infrastructure.

During the arrests, police discovered a substantial stash of weapons and explosives.

The identities of the four male Maoists remain undisclosed.

Authorities reported that they recovered a 12-bore barrel grenade launcher and two small BGL bombs from Paro Hapka, while Sunita was in possession of a tiffin bomb, a detonator, and various electronic components believed to be intended for assembling improvised explosive devices.

The discovery of these materials has heightened concerns regarding potential planned attacks that were presumably foiled by the prompt actions of law enforcement.

This operation is taking place amidst reinforced security protocols in the region following a series of confrontations and surrenders in recent months.

The Narayanpur district, part of the broader Bastar division, has witnessed intensified counter-insurgency efforts under the state’s ‘Maad Bachao Abhiyan’, aimed at dismantling Naxal strongholds and reinstating peace in the tribal-dominated regions.

Officials have lauded the effective collaboration between local intelligence units and ground forces, which facilitated the successful apprehension of the suspects without any casualties.

The detained Maoists are currently undergoing interrogation, with further operations anticipated based on the intelligence obtained.

With these arrests, the police aim to gain a deeper understanding of the operational framework of the Kutul LOS and mitigate future threats in the area.
