London, Sep 12 (NationPress) Chelsea's head coach Enzo Maresca stated he has nothing to add regarding the 74 charges filed against Chelsea by the Football Association (FA). The club acknowledged their knowledge of the impending charges, having reported the incidents themselves, and anticipates that they will not face any sporting penalties due to their cooperation.
Maresca expressed his desire to concentrate on the pitch, which is under his control, unlike the matters outside of it. 'I am aware from the club that they are pleased with the process. Personally, I have nothing to add. I genuinely have no idea. I want to focus on the pitch, something I can manage. The rest is beyond my control,' Maresca remarked.
The FA has accused Chelsea FC of violating Regulations J1 and C2 of The FA Football Agents Regulations, Regulations A2 and A3 of The FA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries, and Regulations A1 and B3 of The FA Third Party Investment in Players Regulations.
In total, 74 charges have been leveled against Chelsea FC, covering a period from 2009 to 2022, primarily associated with events that took place from the 2010/11 to 2015/16 playing seasons.
'During an extensive due diligence process prior to the acquisition, the ownership group became aware of possibly incomplete financial reporting related to historical transactions and other potential breaches of FA regulations. Immediately after the purchase was finalized, the club self-reported these issues to all relevant authorities, including the FA.
The club has shown remarkable transparency throughout this process, providing comprehensive access to its files and historical data,' stated Chelsea, as reported by BBC Sport.
Maresca also confirmed that a decision on Cole Palmer's fitness to face Brentford will be made after Friday's training session at Cobham.
A problem incurred during the warm-up to Chelsea's victory over West Ham United prevented Palmer from participating in the win at the London Stadium. The 23-year-old was also missing during the Blues' triumph over Fulham prior to the international break.
The Blues head coach elaborated, 'Cole participated in a session yesterday for the first time – but not the whole session. We have one more session this afternoon, and we will attempt to assess his condition. Otherwise, he will miss tomorrow's match again.'
