Malappuram, March 28 (NationPress) On the 27th night of Ramadan, the Ma'din Academy campus in Melmuri hosted a remarkable spiritual event, as approximately 300,000 believers congregated for prayers and blessings.

During this significant gathering, a pivotal initiative was introduced -- the launch of the Ma'din Academy’s Anti-Drug Campaign, which aims to address the escalating issue of drug abuse and foster awareness within communities.

Leading this initiative, Sayyid Ibraheemul Khaleel Al-Bukhari, the founder and chairman of Ma'din Academy, led a pledge, uniting the vast crowd in a commitment to combat drug abuse and its detrimental effects.

"We cannot remain inactive while addiction ravages lives and families. Our youth -- our future -- is in jeopardy. It is time for all of us to take action," Al-Bukhari emphasized, while thousands expressed their agreement.

He also advocated for a revision of the state’s drug control laws, pointing out legal loopholes that have exacerbated the crisis. "Existing laws were established when drug production and usage were not as prevalent. Today, they are obsolete and ineffective," he remarked.

The campaign will initiate several crucial programs, including drug awareness initiatives for 100,000 students; distribution of drug eradication guidelines to one million families; a nationwide network supporting a drug-free society; a free helpline and counseling services for individuals grappling with addiction; and a 1,000-km awareness journey to disseminate the message of prevention and recovery.

At the conference's inauguration, Kanthapuram A.P. Abubaker Musliyar, the Grand Mufti of India, addressed the escalating violence in society, particularly among youth.

"True faith is a safeguard against violence. Those who adhere to the principles of peace and justice cannot engage in immoral activities like drug abuse," he stated.

The event also underscored the importance of robust support systems for individuals fighting addiction.

Established in 1997 with only 118 students, Ma'din Academy has evolved into a mass movement with over 33,000 students across 45 educational and charity institutions. Its Ramadan Prayer and Peace Conference, now in its 29th year, continues to unite thousands in a collective commitment to peace, unity, and social responsibility.
