New Delhi, Nov 22 (NationPress) Following a significant escalation in the investigation concerning the Delhi Red Fort blast, sources from the Uttar Pradesh Police reported on Saturday that two Kashmiri PhD students from IIT Kanpur have been unaccounted for under dubious circumstances for the last 15 days.
While officials from the institute have claimed ignorance regarding the students' location, their disappearance has sparked serious concerns in the wake of the blast that occurred on November 10.
According to insider information, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Uttar Pradesh Police, Local Intelligence Unit, and other security personnel have arrived at IIT Kanpur to carry out a thorough investigation.
The agencies are meticulously reviewing student records, investigating movement logs, and collecting information to understand the situation surrounding the absence of the two scholars.
One student has not been seen since October 18, while the other has been missing from November 10.
Both individuals enrolled at IIT Kanpur in 2019 and are in the process of completing their PhD.
Importantly, the state administration and police headquarters have requested a comprehensive report on nearly 150 Kashmiri students living in the area.
Additionally, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended another suspect on Saturday in relation to the ongoing investigation into the blast near the Red Fort that tragically resulted in the deaths of 13 individuals and injured many others.
As per SIA sources, an electrician by the name of Tufail Ahmad, residing in Srinagar, was detained from the Pulwama district.
On November 10, a Kashmiri doctor, Umar Nabi, who is associated with Al-Falah University in Faridabad, managed to evade arrest after his terror-linked associates were captured by the J&K and Haryana Police in the Faridabad vicinity.
Moreover, a Special NIA Court on Saturday granted Jasir Bilal Wani, an aide to the Delhi blast bomber Dr. Umar Muhammad, permission to meet with his legal counsel for one hour every two days while remaining in the custody of the anti-terror investigation agency.
The Special NIA Court at the Patiala House complex allowed Wani to converse with his lawyers for 20 minutes during each session, emphasizing that the meetings should occur between 5 and 6 p.m., according to a legal representative.
The NIA has identified Wani as a key co-conspirator of terrorist Dr. Umar. He was captured on November 17 in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, for allegedly providing technical support for executing terror operations.
Reports indicate that he was involved in modifying drones and attempting to develop rockets ahead of the catastrophic car bomb blast.
