Aizawl, June 27 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Mizoram, Lalduhoma, stated on Friday that the state is among the lowest recipients of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from companies across India.
The Chief Minister pointed out that the limited number of registered CSR implementing agencies in the state contributes to the meager inflow of these funds.
Speaking at the concluding session of a three-day Capacity Building Workshop for NGOs and Implementing Agencies, he noted that despite the presence of numerous companies in India mandated by law to engage in CSR initiatives, Mizoram still ranks low in receiving CSR funds nationally.
He highlighted that CSR funds can play a crucial role in developmental projects, citing the construction of the Serchhip Hospital building, which attracted over Rs 21 crore through CSR.
The Chief Minister’s Office has set up a dedicated CSR Cell aimed at increasing the number of registered agencies and guiding them in securing CSR funds.
Several initiatives have been launched to support this goal, including awareness programs and a roadshow in partnership with UNDP in Bangalore.
A talk show was organized, and the current training program is in collaboration with industry bodies. The Chief Minister stressed the urgent need to boost the number of registered agencies.
He encouraged NGOs involved in the training to actively pursue registration as implementing agencies, which would allow them to leverage CSR opportunities.
He invited societies, NGOs, and hospitals to register as implementing bodies, assuring them that the CSR Cell would provide ongoing support.
“Your achievements will enhance societal development, generate job opportunities for youth, and contribute to the overall progress of our state,” he noted.
The Chief Minister’s adviser and Chairman of the CSR Cell, TBC Lalvenchhunga, reaffirmed that the CSR Cell is always ready to assist and guide the trainees.
He motivated NGOs to aim for becoming Implementing Agencies and announced the upcoming launch of a CSR Matchmaking Platform to promote collaboration between implementing agencies and donor companies, aiming to improve project execution in the near future.
