New Delhi, Oct 8 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the late Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on his death anniversary this Wednesday, reflecting on his significant contributions to public service and nation-building.

Born on July 5, 1946, in Khagaria, Bihar, Paswan was the president of the Lok Janshakti Party and had the distinction of serving as a member in both Houses, being elected nine times to Lok Sabha and twice to Rajya Sabha.

He held the position of Cabinet Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution during the initial two terms of the Modi administration.

In a message posted on X, PM Modi expressed, "My heartfelt tribute to Ram Vilas Paswan ji, the beloved leader of Bihar and former Union Minister, who stands as a symbol of social justice and was deeply committed to public service. He tirelessly advocated for the welfare of marginalized and exploited communities. His contributions to nation-building will be cherished forever."

Union Minister Chirag Paswan, son of Ram Vilas Paswan, conveyed his gratitude to the Prime Minister, stating, "Respected Prime Minister Ji, I sincerely thank you for your touching tribute to my father with your kind words."

Earlier, Chirag also shared his homage to his father on X, reminiscing, "Papa, you always said: ‘Do not commit a crime, do not tolerate a crime. If you wish to live, learn to die, and fight at every step.’"

In another post, he affirmed, "Papa, on this solemn day, I bow to you. I pledge my unwavering commitment to realizing the path you envisioned and your motto of ‘Bihar First, Bihari First."

He articulated the urgency of fulfilling the dream of comprehensive development for Bihar, stating, "It’s time to actualize your vision. Upholding the responsibility you entrusted to me is my life's mission."

Referring to the Bihar Assembly elections as a "grand festival of democracy," he emphasized, "The forthcoming elections present a chance to actualize your aspirations and guide Bihar towards a brighter future for every Bihari."

Chirag expressed his resolve to continue the legacy of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas), stating, "It’s the aspiration of every party member to see your dreams come to fruition in the upcoming elections. Your inspiration, blessings, and ideals will always illuminate my path."
