Bhopal, April 3 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishwas Sarang stated on Thursday that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 has revealed the true intentions of the Opposition, which has been attempting to misguide the minority community.
The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was successfully passed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday after a rigorous debate lasting over 12 hours.
The Minister accused the Opposition of once again trying to mislead the minority community, a tactic they have employed for decades. “The clarity with which Union Minister Amit Shah responded to questions in the House has shed light on the matter,” he remarked.
Sarang, a BJP MLA from Narela (Bhopal) and the state Sports and Youth Welfare Minister, made these comments while addressing the Opposition's claims concerning the Waqf (Amendment) Bill.
“The Opposition has tried to mislead underprivileged Muslims to maintain their vote bank. However, the explanations provided by Home Minister Amit Shah, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, and several other NDA leaders have thoroughly exposed the Opposition,” Sarang told reporters in Bhopal.
In response to leaders from various opposition parties opposing the Waqf Bill, Sarang emphasized that everyone has a constitutional right to petition the court, showcasing the essence of India's democracy where every individual can voice their opinions.
“A significant number of Muslim individuals across the nation, including here in Bhopal, have shown their support for the Bill. The backing from the minority community indicates that they will no longer be misled by appeasement politics,” he added.
On Wednesday, after nearly a 12-hour debate in the Lower House, the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was passed with a vote count of 288 in favor and 232 against.
During the Lok Sabha debate, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress party for allegedly disseminating misinformation regarding the Bill and reassured that the legislation does not aim to interfere with Muslims’ religious affairs.
“Claims that the Waqf Bill interferes with Muslims' religious practices and their donated properties are merely fear-mongering for the sake of vote banks,” he stated.
The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 has now been submitted to the Rajya Sabha, where discussions are ongoing.
