Mumbai, Nov 18 (NationPress) The Mumbai Police have taken into custody three individuals associated with the suspects involved in the Delhi car blast incident, according to officials. These individuals are being transported to Delhi for further questioning.
The detainees were apprehended in a covert operation executed by a specialized team of the Mumbai Police and are presently undergoing interrogation.
Officials revealed that these individuals maintained contact with the accused via a social media application.
The detainees come from affluent backgrounds, similar to Dr. Umar Muhammad and Dr. Muzammil, two principal suspects in the terror network associated with the Delhi blast.
Investigations are concurrently ongoing in various districts throughout the state, according to officials.
On Monday, sources indicated that investigators had uncovered encrypted communications and the movement of firearms, exposing a meticulously organized inner circle within the terror module linked to Dr. Umar Muhammad, who was driving the i20 car that detonated near Delhi's Red Fort, resulting in the deaths of at least 13 individuals and injuring over a dozen more.
As per official accounts, Umar had established an encrypted Signal group around three months ago, cleverly named to evade detection.
He supposedly included Muzammil, Adil Rather, Muzaffar Rather, and Maulvi Irfan Ahmad Waghe in this channel, which served as the primary platform for internal coordination.
A significant development in the investigation arose following the recovery of an assault rifle and a pistol from the vehicle of Dr. Shaheen Shahid. Authorities suspect that Umar acquired these firearms and handed them over to Irfan in 2024.
Previously, Shaheen had encountered these weapons during a visit to Irfan's room alongside Muzammil, and is believed to have contributed significantly to funding the module's activities.
Sources noted that the evidence collected so far indicates a clear hierarchy and division of responsibilities within the network. Financial backing was chiefly managed by the three doctors, with Dr. Muzammil holding a pivotal role.
Recruitment of Kashmiri youths was overseen by Irfan, who allegedly facilitated the involvement of two arrested recruits—Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil and Yasir ul Ashraf.
Investigators have also documented multiple instances of weapon transfers. In October 2023, Adil and Umar visited Irfan at a mosque in Kashmir, concealing a rifle in a bag, and later departed after cleaning its barrel.
A month later, Adil returned to Irfan's residence with another rifle, with Muzammil and Shaheen also present that day. The weapon was reportedly stored with Irfan, and Adil returned the following morning to retrieve it, sources reported.
The findings suggest a coordinated network operating through encrypted channels, engaging in systematic fundraising, targeted recruitment, and meticulous weapon management.
This network is connected to the Faridabad terror module, which came to light on November 9, when police confiscated 2,900 kg of explosives and ammunition from rented premises tied to Muzammil, a doctor affiliated with Al Falah University.
Umar, another doctor linked to Al Falah University, was behind the wheel of the car that exploded near the Red Fort on November 10, sparking a comprehensive investigation into the module's operations. The police have since escalated their search for all individuals associated with this network.
Further inquiries are ongoing.
