Ahmedabad, Jan 24 (NationPress) Authorities have initiated a murder investigation concerning Yashrajsinh Gohil, who tragically lost his life in a shooting at his home. Investigations indicate that he shot his wife, Rajeshwariba, before taking his own life. This distressing incident unfolded late on January 21 at their residence in NRI Tower on Judges Bungalow Road in Ahmedabad.
Yashrajsinh, related to Congress MP Shaktisinh Gohil, was married to Rajeshwariba just two months prior.
According to law enforcement, the couple had returned from a social event and appeared to be in good spirits before the tragic event occurred.
Initial reports hinted at the possibility of an accidental weapon discharge. However, following forensic analysis and post-mortem examinations, authorities have reconsidered the situation.
A police spokesperson stated that the post-mortem results confirmed Rajeshwariba succumbed to shock and significant blood loss due to a gunshot wound to the head.
Forensic specialists further determined that the revolver used could not have fired without intentional trigger pressure, dismissing the theory of accidental discharge. Only two bullets were located within the revolver, raising more questions for investigators.
Law enforcement is currently scrutinizing the couple’s mobile devices and analyzing technical evidence. CCTV cameras inside the apartment were non-functional at the time of the shooting, though footage from external cameras revealed no unusual activity prior to their return.
ACP (A Division) Jayesh Bhrambhatt is the complainant in this case. He noted that early statements, including those from Yashrajsinh’s mother, suggested an accidental firing, but forensic evidence contradicts this.
Emergency services received a call around 11:42 PM and arrived within minutes. Medical responders found Rajeshwariba unresponsive with a gunshot wound, declaring her deceased on the scene.
Yashrajsinh reportedly shot himself with the same firearm in front of his mother and medical personnel.
Authorities confirmed no prior complaints or disputes were reported between the couple. Investigations continue into all aspects of the case, with forensic and technical assessments ongoing.
