BJP chief Nitin Nabin in Lucknow: Lotus will bloom again in UP polls
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bharatiya Janata Party National President Nitin Nabin on 4 July expressed strong confidence that the party will retain power in Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for next year, asserting that 'the lotus will bloom' in the state once again. Nabin made the remarks during his first two-day organisational visit to Lucknow, which is being closely watched as a signal of the party's electoral mobilisation strategy.
Key Developments
Nabin arrived at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, where he was received by a high-powered delegation that included Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary, state general secretary (Organisation) Dharampal Singh, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Union Minister of State Kamlesh Paswan, and several state ministers and senior party leaders.
From the airport, Nabin led a grand roadshow to the party's state headquarters, travelling on a specially-decorated chariot alongside Pankaj Chaudhary. The nearly 18-km route featured elaborate welcome arrangements at more than 50 locations, with party workers lining up at various points. The show of strength is widely seen as an effort to energise the BJP cadre ahead of the crucial state polls.
What Nabin Said
Addressing party workers, Nabin said, 'In Lucknow, the entire Bharatiya Janata Party of Uttar Pradesh, under our leadership, the way enthusiasm is seen among the workers, the way there is trust among the people in PM Modi and CM Yogi duo and the welcome I received on the land of Patliputra, I express my heartfelt thanks to all the workers for their affection and love.'
He added, 'This is Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji's karmabhoomi and I am confident that the people will vote for the BJP in the Assembly elections next year and the lotus will bloom in Uttar Pradesh.'
Organisational Significance
The visit is Nabin's first interaction with the newly-constituted Uttar Pradesh BJP team, announced approximately nine days ago. Party insiders believe the visit is intended to finalise the organisational road map and sharpen the election strategy. During his two-day stay, Nabin is scheduled to hold meetings with state office-bearers, regional presidents, district presidents, and leaders of various BJP frontal organisations, as well as members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
He is also scheduled to offer prayers at the Hanuman Setu Temple in Lucknow and meet eminent personalities at the residence of Padma Shri awardee Dr Vidya Bindu Singh, followed by dinner with Chief Minister Adityanath.
Grassroots Push
On the second day of the visit, Nabin is set to meet booth-level workers and address the BJP's Shakti Kendra Convenor Conference at the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal. He will also visit the residence of booth president Shivaji Rawat in Peer Nagar to review grassroots organisational activities — underscoring the party's focus on booth-level strengthening as a cornerstone of its UP election strategy.
With the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections due next year, this visit marks the formal launch of the BJP's pre-poll organisational blitz in the state.
