Assam NDA govt formation: BJP leader election May 10, swearing-in May 12
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday, 8 May announced that the process for forming the new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the state will formally begin on 10 May with the election of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Legislature Party leader, followed by the swearing-in ceremony of the new Council of Ministers on 12 May in Guwahati. The announcement sets a tight two-day window between the alliance leader's election and the formal induction of the new cabinet.
The May 10 Schedule
Addressing reporters in Guwahati, Chief Minister Sarma outlined a back-to-back series of meetings on 10 May. The BJP Legislature Party meeting has been scheduled for 10 a.m., where the party's leader in the state Assembly will be elected. Immediately after, at 11 a.m., a joint meeting of all NDA legislators will be held to elect the leader of the alliance.
