Pragati Biwal, a first-year MBBS student at Pandit Nawal Kishore Sharma Government Medical College in Dausa, has reportedly gone missing from campus shortly after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested her father, Mangilal Biwal, a key accused in the NEET paper leak case in Rajasthan. According to sources, Pragati submitted a leave application and quietly left the college premises following the arrests, and has not attended classes for at least two days as of 15 May.

The Disappearance and What Triggered It

Pragati's absence from campus coincided directly with the CBI's intensified crackdown on the Biwal family. Her father Mangilal Biwal and uncle Dinesh Biwal — both described by investigators as key figures in the alleged paper leak network — have been placed in seven-day CBI custody. Family members have maintained that Pragati secured her MBBS seat through merit, but the timing of her departure has drawn scrutiny from investigators and raised questions within academic circles.

A Striking Pattern of Medical Admissions

What has particularly caught the attention of the CBI is the concentration of medical admissions within a single family. According to sources, the list runs as follows: Pragati Biwal is enrolled at Dausa Medical College; her brother Vikas is studying at Sawai Madhopur Medical College; cousin Saniya attends SMS Medical College, Jaipur; another cousin, Palak, is pursuing medicine in Mumbai; and family member Gunjan is studying medicine in Banaras. Investigators are now examining whether this cluster of admissions reflects exceptional academic achievement or evidence of systematic manipulation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

CBI Raids and Seizures in Jaipur

On Thursday, CBI teams conducted searches at the residence of the accused brothers in Khatik Mohalla, Jamwaramgarh, Jaipur. Sources say no male family members were present during the operation; investigators questioned the women of the household — including the accused's mother and wives — for several hours. The agency also searched a nearby farmhouse, inspected luxury vehicles parked at the premises, and seized documents reportedly linked to the alleged racket.

Scale of Arrests and Wider Investigation

So far, seven people have been arrested in connection with the NEET paper leak case. Five accused, including Dinesh Biwal, Mangilal Biwal, and Vikas, have been remanded to seven-day CBI custody. The CBI is also searching for Rishi, son of Dinesh Biwal and a NEET aspirant this year, who is reportedly absconding. The investigation has spread beyond Rajasthan, with arrests already recorded in Maharashtra as well.

What Investigators Suspect

Investigators reportedly believe the scandal may be considerably larger than initially assessed, potentially involving a well-organised network that systematically manipulated one of India's most competitive medical entrance examinations. The CBI is scrutinising the academic records and admission histories of multiple Biwal family members to determine the extent of the alleged network's reach. With the probe widening and a key family member unaccounted for, the case is shaping up to be one of the most significant education fraud investigations in Rajasthan's recent history.
