Mumbai, Sep 12 (NationPress) Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh reminisced about a memorable experience while filming his 2012 movie “Players” in Russia, where entering the hotel became quite challenging due to the enthusiastic fans of his grandfather, Mukesh, who wanted to meet him and his father, Nitin Mukesh.

During a podcast hosted by Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Neil opened up about the industry's perception of his appearance, his battles against stereotypes, and the profound pride he holds in continuing his grandfather's remarkable legacy as a celebrated singer.

Neil mentioned that he initially believed there would be numerous advantages associated with his complexion, stating, “I thought there would be a lot of benefits in being white. But the trend has changed.” He shared how people used to tell him he looked affluent, but that has shifted in recent times.

Despite trying to portray a character from a lower economic background in the 2010 film “Lafangey Parindey”, Neil faced criticism regarding his appearance. He remarked, “What can I do now? It is my belief.” He expressed a strong sense of connection wherever he travels, whether in India or abroad.

Neil recounted a memorable taxi ride with his father, during which their driver recognized their Indian roots. The driver exclaimed, “You are from India,” leading to a discussion about Indian music. Neil's father began singing, and the driver noted how much he sounded like the legendary singer Mukesh, leading to an overwhelming fan response when they arrived at the hotel.

Neil reflected, “That day, it was difficult for us to set foot in the hotel after the shoot.” He emphasized that Mukeshji remains a beloved figure even after his passing, noting, “It's been almost 50 years since he left, and people still remember him today.” He expressed immense pride in being his grandson and continues to honor his legacy through hard work and dedication.
