On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi and Netanyahu are set to visit Yad Vashem together before convening for an extensive bilateral meeting at the King David Hotel.
The discussions are anticipated to revolve around a thorough assessment of the India-Israel Strategic Partnership, focusing on enhancing collaboration in defense, science and technology, trade, and cultural exchanges. The leaders will also share insights on urgent regional and global issues.
During the visit, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) covering economic, security, and diplomatic aspects will be signed to further strengthen the partnership between the two nations. Following the signing, Modi and Netanyahu will present joint statements to the press outlining the results of their discussions.
India is on the brink of finalizing a landmark strategic partnership with Israel to procure Iron Dome technology. This arrangement is more than a simple acquisition; it aims to be a core part of India's indigenous “Mission Sudarshan Chakra”, also known as Project Kusha.
Israel has officially proposed to transfer the Iron Dome technology to India under the “Make in India” initiative, facilitating local production and integration into a layered air defense system intended to counter short-range rockets, mortars, and drone swarms.
In addition to the Iron Dome, India is also expressing considerable interest in Israel’s advanced Iron Beam laser system, viewed as a cost-effective, rapid-response solution to low-cost aerial threats. This collaboration aims to protect Indian cities and critical infrastructure through a high-efficacy shield that complements long-range systems like the S-400, with the overarching goal of establishing an “impregnable” security framework by 2030.
During his visit, PM Modi will also have a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
On Wednesday, Modi received a standing ovation at the Knesset shortly after landing in Tel Aviv for his two-day state visit, making him the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament, marking his second visit to Israel in a decade since 2017.
He was awarded the Medal of the Knesset. In a post on X, he mentioned, "I am deeply honored to receive the Medal of the Knesset. I accept it with humility and gratitude. This honor is not a tribute to an individual, but to the enduring friendship between India and Israel. It reflects the shared values that guide our two nations," expressing his thanks to the Israeli Parliament for the recognition.
