As part of the visit, PM Modi participated in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative by planting a tree in the Presidential Gardens and extended an invitation to President Herzog to visit India soon.
Describing the meeting, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, "The ties of warmth and goodwill! PM Modi thanked President Herzog for his unwavering support in fortifying the unique India-Israel partnership. The leaders examined pathways to further strengthen cooperation in education, start-ups, innovation, technology, and connectivity."
Additionally, Modi laid a wreath at the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Centre, honoring the memory of Holocaust victims, in a visit accompanied by Netanyahu and Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan.
The tour included a visit to the Book of Names, which memorializes 4.8 million Jewish victims of the Holocaust, and a solemn ceremony at the Hall of Remembrance. Modi also signed the guest book at Yad Vashem.
This marks PM Modi's second visit to Yad Vashem, having previously honored the memorial in July 2017 during his last trip to the country.
Currently, PM Modi is on a two-day state visit to Israel, where he was warmly welcomed by Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, in Tel Aviv on Wednesday. He later addressed a special plenary session at the Knesset in Jerusalem, marking the first address by an Indian Prime Minister to the Israeli parliament.
