New Delhi, Oct 29 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has enhanced its engagement with citizens and improved its grievance redressal system by launching the National Voter Helpline and the innovative ‘Book-a-Call' feature with the Booth Level Officer (BLO). This initiative aims to assist voters in resolving election-related inquiries swiftly and transparently, as stated by the ECI on Wednesday.
As per the ECI, individuals can now connect by calling the National Contact Centre (NCC) at the toll-free number 1800-11-1950, operational daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Trained executives will manage calls, providing assistance with electoral information, registration challenges, and other election-related services.
To ensure prompt and localized responses, the Commission has mandated all States, Union Territories, and Districts to set up their own State Contact Centres (SCCs) and District Contact Centres (DCCs).
“The ECI has directed each State/UT and District to create its own SCC and DCC to facilitate timely and localized responses. These centres will operate during office hours on all working days of the year, accommodating inquiries in the respective regional languages of the State/UT,” as noted in the official press release.
These centres are set to function during office hours on working days and will assist citizens in their native languages.
Moreover, all complaints and inquiries will be documented and monitored via the National Grievance Service Portal (NGSP 2.0), ensuring a system of accountability and transparency in handling grievances.
“Additionally, the ECI has introduced the ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ feature, enabling citizens to directly reach their respective BLO through this option available on the ECINET platform,” the announcement stated.
The ECI has also instructed all Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Election Officers (DEOs), and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to oversee requests regularly and ensure their resolution within 48 hours.
“These new services complement the existing frameworks for addressing election-related grievances. Citizens may also email their concerns to complaints@eci.gov.in,” it added.
The Commission encourages all voters to utilize these services fully, highlighting them as part of its ongoing mission to create a voter-centric, efficient, and transparent electoral process.
