NFR to mark Har Ghar Tiranga campaign at stations across Northeast
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will roll out a series of awareness and outreach activities across railway stations, offices, and establishments under the nationwide 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, running from 9 August to 17 August, officials confirmed on Sunday. The drive aims to spread the message of patriotism and encourage citizens across the NFR's jurisdiction to hoist the National Flag at their homes.
What NFR Has Planned
Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NFR, said the railway will observe the campaign in line with the Union government's initiative to foster a personal and emotional connection with the Tiranga. Flag hoisting ceremonies will be organised at railway offices and establishments throughout the period.
Prominent railway stations and key premises will be illuminated in the colours of the National Flag as a mark of national pride. Instrumental renditions of the National Song 'Vande Mataram' will be broadcast through the Public Address System at major stations, and patriotic programmes will be organised to reinforce the spirit of unity and nationalism.
Encouraging Public and Staff Participation
Railway officers and employees will be actively encouraged to participate and inspire their families and members of the public to hoist the National Flag during the campaign period. Citizens and staff will also be invited to upload a 'Selfie with Tiranga' as a symbol of their involvement in the nationwide movement.
Sharma noted that NFR has observed the campaign with enthusiasm every year since its launch, and this year's edition continues that tradition across all stations and offices within its network.
Background: Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign
The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign was launched by the Union government in 2022 under the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' initiative, with the objective of inspiring citizens to display the National Flag at their homes and deepen their sense of national identity. Since its inception, the campaign has drawn participation from government bodies, public sector units, and millions of households across India.
This is the third consecutive year NFR has aligned its Independence Day activities with the campaign, reflecting a sustained institutional push to embed civic participation into the railway's public outreach calendar.
What Comes Next
Activities under the campaign will continue through 17 August, with NFR's network spanning states including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, and parts of West Bengal and Bihar all set to participate. The railway has called on citizens across the region to join the celebrations and hoist the Tiranga with respect and pride.
