Patna, July 26 (NationPress) A striking new poster outside the Janata Dal (United) state office in Patna has ignited a buzz in the political circles of Bihar. Numerous party members have publicly urged that Nishant Kumar, the son of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, should step into active politics and run for elections.
The poster, prominently placed on Veer Chand Patel Path, declares: ‘Workers demand, Nishant should contest elections’.
It features a photograph of Nishant Kumar and is credited to four local JDU activists—Sushil Kumar, Abhay Patel, Varun Kumar, and Chandan Patel.
Speaking to reporters, the workers expressed that Bihar and the party require “new energy” and believe that Nishant Kumar possesses the leadership qualities akin to his father.
“Engineer Nishant should guide JDU and propel Bihar forward like Nitish Kumar has done. We wish for him to run for elections, enter the Assembly, and inspire the youth,” stated Abhay Patel.
Sushil Kumar shared similar views, asserting, “Nishant Bhaiya should engage in active politics and serve as a role model for the upcoming generation.”
While the party leadership has yet to respond formally, JDU spokesperson Arvind Kumar mentioned, “Workers are displaying posters requesting Nishant Kumar's entry into politics. Ultimately, whether he stands for election or not is a matter for Nitish Kumar and Nishant to decide.”
This development has drawn reactions from various political factions.
BJP spokesperson Arvind Kumar Singh remarked, “In a democracy, everyone has the right to contest elections. The appeal from JDU workers is appreciated, but the final choice lies with Nishant and Nitish Kumar.”
RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari took a jab at the situation, stating, “JDU wishes for Nishant to enter politics. Even Tejashwi Yadav has previously supported this. However, there are factions within both the BJP and JDU that are hesitant to see Nishant step into the political arena.”
To date, Nishant Kumar has maintained a low-key profile and avoided active politics, despite being the son of one of Bihar’s longest-serving Chief Ministers.
Nonetheless, he has recently made several public appearances, leading to speculation regarding a potential entry into politics.
