Itanagar/Agartala, Oct 21 (NationPress) A number of Northeastern states commemorated Police Commemoration Day 2025 on Tuesday, joining the nation in honoring the brave policemen who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the public.
During a memorial event at the Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium in Arundhuti Nagar, Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed his respect for the fallen heroes, noting that 191 police personnel nationwide, including two from Tripura, were martyred between September 2024 and August 2025.
"The selflessness and determination of our police forces are a true reflection of heroism," remarked the Chief Minister, emphasizing the importance of their commitment to duty.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, currently in Japan, also paid tribute to these courageous individuals via his official X account, stating: "On this Police Commemoration Day, we honor the valiant men and women of our police forces who sacrificed their lives for the country. Their courage and dedication embody the peak of public service ideals. We also acknowledge their families, whose strength underpins their bravery."
The observance in Arunachal Pradesh was marked at the Police Training Centre in Itanagar, with Home Minister Mama Natung and various senior police officials present. Genden Tsormu, widow of the late Thutan Tsering from the 4th Arunachal Pradesh Rifles Battalion, also paid her respects.
Home Minister Natung reaffirmed the state government's commitment to bolstering police infrastructure and supporting law enforcement personnel and their families, stating: "We will continue to equip our police force with modern tools to tackle evolving security challenges."
In Nagaland, Director General of Police Rupin Sharma commemorated those who lost their lives over the past year, urging police personnel to renew their pledge to serve the nation, while praising the steadfast professionalism of the Nagaland Police.
In Manipur, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla also paid homage to the fallen, remarking on the courage and dedication of the Manipur Police in upholding peace and justice.

Across India, a total of 191 police personnel were martyred in the line of duty from September 2024 to August 2025, with the Border Security Force (BSF) recording the highest casualties at 23, while Chhattisgarh reported 16 among state and Union Territory police forces.
The fallen heroes hailed from 26 state and Union Territory police forces and eight Central Armed Police Forces.
