New Delhi, Oct 21 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday honored the valor of police personnel and acknowledged their ultimate sacrifice while serving on Police Commemoration Day.
In a statement on the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi remarked, “On Police Commemoration Day, we pay tribute to the bravery of our police personnel and remember their ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their unyielding dedication ensures the safety of our nation and its people. Their courage and commitment during times of crisis and need are commendable.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his greetings on this significant occasion.
“Warm wishes to our police personnel on Police Commemoration Day. As the first responders, our forces have achieved remarkable feats by preventing crimes and threats to internal security, while protecting citizens' rights with extraordinary courage and commitment. I extend my sincere homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation,” he stated on X.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also honored the martyrs at the National Police Memorial on Police Commemoration Day, recognizing the police personnel for safeguarding societal integrity.
In his address, Singh stated, “This day serves to remember the supreme sacrifices made by our police and paramilitary forces. I pay my respects to those who have fallen in the line of duty to protect the citizens of this nation.”
He emphasized the interdependence of society and the police, saying, “A society can only advance towards peace and progress when it possesses a strong sense of security, justice, and trust. All our police personnel are accountable for maintaining these elements.”
“Conversely, it is equally true that the police can operate effectively only when society collaborates with them and abides by the law. When the relationship between society and police is built on mutual understanding, both will thrive. Therefore, a balanced partnership between society and police is crucial,” he continued.
Singh highlighted that there are two aspects of every nation's security—external and internal. He noted that while the armed forces and coast guards ensure external security, it is the police personnel who uphold internal security by working alongside intelligence agencies.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid his respects to the brave police personnel.
“CM Devendra Fadnavis humbly paid floral tributes to the courageous police personnel who sacrificed their lives for the nation at Police HQ, Naigaon, Mumbai, on Police Commemoration Day. He also welcomed diplomats from various nations, dignitaries, and families of martyrs attending the Police Commemoration Day Parade,” the CMO Maharashtra posted on X.
