Bhubaneswar, Dec 11 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, called upon the newly appointed recruits to remain steadfast in their responsibilities as public servants and to steer clear of corruption.
The Chief Minister made this appeal while distributing appointment letters to 591 newly appointed Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs), Finance and Accounts Officers, and Planning Assistants during the State-Level Nijukti Mela (Recruitment Fair 2025) held here on Wednesday.
“Regardless of the position you occupy, always view government employment as a service to the public. After securing a government role, do not neglect your responsibilities and maintain a distance from corruption,” CM Majhi advised.
The Chief Minister indicated that within the past 18 months, from June last year to the present, 37,916 appointments have been made. He also mentioned that plans are in motion to fill an additional 30,000 positions in the upcoming six months.
Majhi reaffirmed his government's commitment to filling all 1.50 lakh vacant positions within five years and to address 65,000 government vacancies in the next two years.
“Thus, if you (the recruits) commit yourself to avoiding corruption and effectively executing all government welfare initiatives, both society and the state will thrive,” CM Majhi further emphasized.
He also hinted at a significant surge in infrastructure development in Odisha, thanks to provisions in the state budget for substantial capital investments.
Majhi noted that Odisha has the highest capital expenditure ratio to GDP in the nation—over 6.1 percent—accounting for about 22 percent of the total budget.
Speaking to the newly appointed Assistant Executive Engineers, Majhi pointed out that engineers play a vital role in executing the extensive budget allocations for infrastructure development, which is key to creating a prosperous Odisha.
One of the primary objectives of the state government, he stated, is to boost farmers’ production and productivity by enhancing irrigation systems.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Majhi also inaugurated the ‘Mukhyamantri Adibandh Tiaari Yojana 3.0’ for the citizens of the state.
A budget of Rs 2,738 crore has been sanctioned for this initiative, which includes the construction of 3,000 new check dams and renovation of 2,000 existing check dams over the next five years, providing irrigation facilities to approximately 48,000 hectares of land in Odisha.
In the first phase of Adibandh Yojana 3.0, foundation stones were laid on Thursday for 201 check dams across 15 districts, with an investment of around Rs 160 crore aimed at providing irrigation to 5,342 hectares of land.
