New Delhi, Feb 12 (NationPress) India’s energy Maharatna, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) to delve into new prospects within the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) industry. TPREL is a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, and this agreement was formalized during the third edition of India Energy Week 2025.
The partnership will emphasize various crucial aspects, including large-scale energy storage systems, grid stabilization, renewable energy integration, hybrid energy solutions, industrial and commercial storage applications, microgrids, backup power solutions, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
Both organizations aim to harness their expertise to foster innovation and growth in the energy storage sector.
“As India moves towards a sustainable energy future, ONGC is resolute in its dedication to advancing clean energy projects,” stated Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman and CEO of ONGC.
He further highlighted that this collaboration with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited signifies a strategic advancement in enhancing energy storage capabilities, essential for grid stability and the adoption of renewable energies.

This collaboration aligns perfectly with India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030.
In addition, TPREL has successfully launched India’s largest Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, featuring a 100 MW Solar PV plant paired with 120 MWh of Utility-Scale BESS in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh.
