Mumbai, April 14 (NationPress) Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) announced on Monday that it has entered into a power purchase agreement with NTPC Limited, the largest integrated power company in India, to establish a 200 MW renewable energy (RE) initiative.

The project will span multiple locations across India and is projected to be finalized within 24 months, generating around 1,300 million units (MUs) of electricity each year, thereby reducing over 1 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, according to an official statement.

TPREL secured the project through competitive bidding, which will incorporate solar, wind, and BESS technologies.

A standout aspect of this endeavor is the pledge for a 4-hour peak power supply, guaranteeing at least 90 percent availability during peak demand to satisfy the increasing energy requirements of distribution companies, as outlined in the statement.

With this new project, TPREL's total renewable utility capacity now stands at 10.9 GW. Currently, 5.5 GW of this capacity is operational, which includes 4.5 GW from solar and 1 GW from wind energy.

Furthermore, 5.4 GW is at various stages of development, evenly divided between 2.7 GW of solar and 2.7 GW of wind projects. These projects are expected to be completed in phases over the next 6 to 24 months.

TPREL also provides extensive green energy solutions for both rural and urban settings, including turnkey, EPC, and operation and maintenance (O&M) services for various business segments such as utility-scale projects and solar rooftops.

In addition to its diverse portfolio of renewable solutions, the company operates a state-of-the-art solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, with capacities of 530 MW for solar cells and 682 MW for modules.

Moreover, TPREL has a 4.3 GW cells and module manufacturing plant located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The company also offers electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions across various sectors and provides advisory services across the renewable energy landscape, as per the statement.
