Hyderabad, Aug 11 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has expressed his disapproval regarding the detention of the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi, and several other Congress and Opposition leaders in New Delhi on Monday. This incident occurred during their protest against the Election Commission’s alleged collusion with the ruling BJP.

The Chief Minister shared his thoughts on ‘X’, stating that LoP Gandhi has initiated the battle for democracy and the restoration of the fundamental power of every Indian’s vote.

“The BJP has resorted to a despicable act of detaining him and Priyanka Gandhi ji along with other Congress leaders. No jail can diminish the resolve or silence the voice of Rahul Gandhi Ji,” his post asserted.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud also criticized the detention of the LoP, asserting that the actions taken by the Delhi Police against Rahul Gandhi garu are not lawful but rather a manifestation of the BJP's fears.

“Rahul Gandhi garu has bravely revealed the Election Commission’s collusion with the BJP and has exposed the 'Vote Chori' that threatens the foundations of democracy. His struggle is not merely political; it is a fight for the Constitution and the sacred principle of 'One Person, One Vote,'” stated the state Congress chief in a post on X.

“Every Congress worker, from the grassroots to top leadership, stands united with Rahul Gandhi garu. His voice represents ours, his battle is ours, and no detention can fracture this commitment. The BJP may attempt to muffle him, but they will only amplify the nation’s demand for truth,” the TPCC president concluded.

Additionally, the President of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Y.S. Sharmila, condemned the arrest of LoP Gandhi and other Opposition figures, emphasizing that they are striving to defend every Indian's sacred voting right.

“Suppressing dissenting voices is indicative of Modi's authoritarian tendencies. It is disheartening that the RSS' constitution, which the BJP has adopted, does not encompass the freedom to peacefully protest. This is the reality of our nation. No arrests or imprisonments will deter Rahul Gandhi’s unwavering determination for the future,” she posted on ‘X’.

In a previous message, she voiced her support for LoP Gandhi's demand for digital voter rolls from the Election Commission, asserting that this struggle is vital for democratic integrity.

“The essence of democracy lies in the right to vote. Equality is inherent in the voting process—whether one is a person with no means or a wealthy individual, each vote carries the same weight. The sacred vote granted to us by the Constitution is being exploited by the BJP in their insatiable quest for power. The system has become tainted due to the presence of stolen votes. The Election Commission itself has been compromised for the BJP’s gain through underhanded tactics,” she stated.

“The EC, which should be safeguarding democracy, is instead protecting Modi. The Election Commission's actions are a farce, and the independent system has become a puppet of the BJP. The EC has also joined the ranks of affiliated organizations like the RSS,” Sharmila remarked.

The Congress leader called for the Election Commission to address five questions posed by LoP Gandhi.
